The MOVEMENT IN TOUCH Workshop will provide cardio specialists with valuable tools to draw on that can help reclaim some physical confidence in their patients, through movement lessons, as well as lessons that focus on the abilities of the human body to release daily stress and aches. The Workshop also covers issues of communication and touch to enhance a patient’s personal well being and social life. In addition, the workshops also instruct participants on how to relieve muscle strain buildup due to sitting for prolonged periods of time.

All workshops can be tailored to suit specific needs and interests of a group. The following topics can be tailored into a 1 or 2 day workshop of up to 12 hours:
Introductions + Workshop Overview: Movements for seniors, both individual and in pairs as well as highlighting the special physiological needs of cardio patients who want to reclaim some physical confidence after suffering severe physiological trauma.
Lecture on communication touching on the tools available to us in our daily life.
Session with balloons discussing the physiological affects of laughter.
Movements with accessories such as an overball and tennis ball with instructions on how to work on specific problems such as inflexibility, alternative movements, strengthening abdominal muscles through creative ways. In addition, we will also learn important lessons on communication as a group while handling a tennis ball.
Individual movements against a wall, on a chair and on a mat to release the shoulder blade region, as well as the neck and back, also using accessories such as a tennis ball and overball. We will learn how to use our bodies in a natural way to relieve pain and release stress, and discuss the suitability of these movements to individuals and situations.
Movements in pairs highlighting movements that can suit everyone and open discussion. Followed by encountering the kinesthetic sense (including variation of movements with your eyes shut and at various speeds – fast and slow).
Movement Lessons: movements that flow and expand naturally from one movement to the next and require cognition, such that the movements become more complex as they develop, followed by a review and discussion.
Short film and discussion exploring the influence of movement in our daily lives as well as cultural differences.
Discussion about how we can use the tools learned at the workshop (the connection between movement, touch and communication) to increase our well being.
